Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers examine how news claims are worded, sourced, framed, contextualised or updated. A strong proposal has one clear question and a useful answer that does not depend on a breaking news moment.
What to pitch
We are interested in explainers, close readings, comparisons and carefully bounded accounts of how news reporting works. A pitch might show what a headline changes, how to distinguish a source from a chain of retellings, or why a figure needs a clear denominator and comparison. Keep the focus on reader understanding rather than scoring points against a person or outlet.
What makes a strong proposal
State the central question, the argument or practical takeaway, the material needed to support it and why a reader would find it useful beyond one news cycle. Name any important limits, specialist knowledge or source access the piece requires. We value precise claims, transparent reasoning and a distinct angle over a long list of loosely connected points.
Send a proposal
Use the Contact page to send your pitch and select the editorial question option. Include a short outline and relevant experience or links to previous work if you wish, but do not send confidential information or material you are not entitled to share. A proposal is not a promise of publication.
A sharp reader asks what the story can support
A vivid headline is not a substitute for a clear source, relevant context or an honest account of what remains unknown.
